Special education programs and services are integrated within each of the buildings in the Plattsmouth Community School District. A continuum of services and programs is available, depending on the needs of each individual child. Students must be verified to participate in special education programs.
The goal of special education is to enable children with unique learning needs to reach their full potential. Every effort is made to maintain all students with their age-appropriate peers in the least restrictive environment. Special educators collaborate with classroom teachers, other educators, and/or parents, as they problem-solve strategies that will support the unique learning needs of each student.
All children with disabilities residing in the District, including children with disabilities who are homeless or are wards of the state or attending nonpublic schools, regardless of the severity of their disabilities, who are in need of special education and related services, will be identified, located and evaluated and a practical method shall be developed and implemented by the administration to determine which children with disabilities are currently receiving needed special education and related services.
If special educational needs of students exist or arise, they will be addressed in a manner that complies with State and Federal requirements. If you have questions about special education identification or services, contact the following individuals.
